Who is a California Real Estate Broker?

A California Real Estate Broker is a person holding a California real estate broker license that allows them to act independently. This means the broker can offer his services directly to the public, and is regulated in the quality of his services only by law. A Broker may also act in the capacity of a Sales Agent.

A California Real Estate Broker License is required to work as a broker.

To become a Real Estate Broker, the applicant must have any one of the following:

2 years of full-time experience as a real estate salesperson holding a valid California Real Estate Agent License.
1 year of full-time experience as a real estate agent and an AA degree
A 4 year college with a Bachelor degree with 8 approved 2 unit courses
A J.D. Degree with a Finance and an Appraisal course
An Attorney having passed the bar.

Who is the California Real Estate Sales Agent?

An Real Estate Agent, or Saleperson, must have a valid California Real Estate Salesperson License, and they MUST work under the direction of a Broker. An agent cannot act independently.

To become an Agent, you be 18 years old and have passed a Principles course.

A California Real State Sales Agent License is required to work as a salesperson.
